Where is Alanya and what are its facilities?
Alanya is a coastal city in southern Turkey, adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea, located 125 km east of Antalya.
Alanya, due to its natural strategic location as a small peninsula to the Mediterranean Sea at the foot of the Tarus Mountains, has been the local fortress of many Mediterranean empires including Ptolemy, Seleucid, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman.
Alanya’s greatest political importance dates back to the Middle Ages, with the Seljuk Roman sultan under the rule of Alaeddin Kiqbad I, from whom the city takes its name.

Inside the castle is the mosque and caravanserai of Sulaimaniyah, which was built by Suleiman Shah in a magnificent way.
Another historical monument of Alanya is Kızlelı kule or Red Castle.
Sultan Kiqbad I, a prominent architect, brought Abu Ali from Aleppo, Syria, to Alanya to design the building.
The castle is also one of the best examples of medieval military architecture.
The castle and caravanserai of Alara near Manavgat were also built with authority by Kiqbad and turned into a museum and heritage center.
Ataturk House and Museum
Ataturk’s house and museum
preserved from its brief stay in the city on February 18, 1935, is a good example of the interior of a traditional Ottoman house, containing artifacts from the 1930s.
This house was built between 1880 and 1885 in the style of “karnıyarık” (stuffed eggplant).
Bright colors and red ceilings are often enforced by neighborhood councils, giving the modern city a pastel glow.
The Alanya Museum is housed in a 1967 Republican-era building inland from Cleopatra Beach.
With its rich architectural heritage, Alanya is a member of the Association of European Cities and Historic Areas in Norwich.
In 2009, city officials inscribed a file on the Alanya Fortress List as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and added it to the 2009 Pilot List.
Since the construction of the first modern motel in 1958, which is the first year of the tourism industry in Alanya, hotels have been relocated.
